"GIVING AND CARING INSPIRE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME"
A new vision: The Ketsana Center
after a thorough examination of our personal needs and plans for our future and that of ketsana foundation, we have decided to revise our concept of the present project in Victoria, tarlac and to adapt it to the results of our reflections.
Jun has come up with the idea of a ketsana center which will encompass physically the on-going project of ketsana mission hall. a center should also give room to other activities outside the mission hall, like gardening and areas where adults and children can have common activities, like sports. but the initially donated 220 square meters of land for the mission hall wouldn't have the capacity for this new concept. and jun was quick i n saying that he would add more square meters of land, making it a total of 825 square meters. in this way, there will be enough space for the new concept of a ketsana center.
ketsana foundation began as a private voluntary community work , and mostly, financed privately, at that time when we didn't have any sponsor yet. todate, our
funds are still limited, yet we made a vow of continuing what we have already started and to make our big dreams come true by continuously applying the concept of self- reliance.
yet, we still hope that someday, some good--hearted people would bump onto us, onto this website and be inspired by our intentions and to support us with their ideas and material provisions.

Update on Ketsana Mission Hall Project in Victoria, Tarlac
by jun asuncion January 19, 2017
Finally, after a few months of waiting, Mr. Kurt Babar, the architect commissioned by Ketsana for the Ketsana Mission Hall project, sent us his conception of the building according to our discussion last August 2016. It is a pavilion-type structure with a big hall, a small kitchen and two toilets on the ground floor. On the elevated floor just above the kitchen and the toilets, there is where the mini-library, study and computer rooms are to be realized.
Now, the next step is the calculation of the total cost of the project: the building materials, the building permit, water and electricity connections, the commissions for the architect, the laborers' cost and the time frame of the whole construction, We hope that we will come up with a reasonable and budget-friendly cost calculation.
We have already built the concrete perimeter fence and the building ground already cleared and leveled for the construction. Thanks to Beth, an older sister of Mila and a retired primary school teacher, the works were carried on to our satisfaction as she serves as our overseer and manager there in Victoria, Tarlac.
We express our gratitude to our donors and helpers without whom this project would have never been started, notably Mr. and Mrs. Eberle, Miss Madeleine Borel, Mr. Schneider and the Liethi Foundation of Switzerland.
Ketsana Foundation will be focusing more on the educational mission because it is the most sustainable one in the long run. We will discus more about this matter in the near future after we have progressed with the construction of the mission hall.
In the meantime we need more friends and donors who would like to support Ketsana Foundation. We are looking forward to your visit. Thank you very much.
Below are the architectural drawings of the Ketsana Mission Hall Poject.

Ketsana Children Revisited
Report by jun asuncion
Last August of this year 2016, Mila and Jun Asuncion of Ketsana Foundation flew to Victoria, Tarlac Philippines to manage the preparation of the piece of land where the future Mission Hall of the Ketsana Foundation in Tarlac will be built. The first phase of the preparation includes the cleaning of the land, the building of the perimeter fence and the meeting with the local architect Kurt Babar for us to discuss our concept of the project. It was a fruitful meeting as we all agreed on the basic concepts of the building design, materials, functionality and general aesthetics of the project including the simple landscaping of the area. Architect Kurt Babar will send us his drawings as soon as he is ready. For the meantime, we have started with the preparation of the ground and the fencing. Because the land is adjacent to our little farmhouse there, the wall will just be patterned with the existing wall of the said farmhouse as to the height and design so we can cut cost to the maximum.
The month of August in the Philippines welcomed us with heavy rains all week long. We have planned beforehand that we would do another feeding session for the farmers' school children the majority of whom know us already by heart. But the incessant heavy downpour of the monsoon rains prevented us from doing this and so we felt a little bit sad this time. But on one afternoon, there was this rain-free hours. We quickly thought about doing something for these people, something that was just fast enough before the rains would come again. We went to the town market in search of something that would give us an idea. Mila saw a rice dealer and then the idea went off: Mila thought about just distributing rice to the people so they have something to eat, then for sure, the farmers couldn't earn enough for their food during this week. We sought the help of a community worker, an old friend and neighbor Joy Gutierez to gather about fifty families. And she did in so short a time. She came with them to our farmhouse, parents with little children. Our mood shifted to elation in the wink of an eye. We immediately went to work distributing rice to these families and some other little goodies that we bought for the children. It went quick, indeed quick enough before the heavens turned black again and the winds became stronger. It rained just as we arrived home. We were simply happy.

Second Session: Children Feeding Program at Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines
Ketsan Foundation with Mila Asuncion
February 20, 2016
report by jun asuncion
Last February 20, 2016, we finally realized the promised second Children Feeding Program at Victoria, Tarlac. This time, Mila Asuncion of Ketsana Foundation supervised pesonally the Feeding session. She was assisted by Joy Castillo of Victoria community council As usual, the children - who were mostly farmers' children- were excited to see us coming with food and with boxes of Swiss chocolates, of course! It's always a special event for these children as there is no such thing happening in the area where they live. At the core of this group are the very first children who attended our very first feeding program years back before the birth of Ketsana Foundation with our own means. But not long thereafter, Madeleine Borel of Culture Watch offered her financial assistance to this regular feeding program. We thank her, therefore, for her untiring commitment and boundless generosity when it comes to supporting projects of humanitarian nature.
Now, 2016 is such a blessed year for the Ketsana Foundation for it got a very big help from Amella and Hansjürg Eberle of Gossau, Switzerland in finally realizing at the soonest time possible Ketsana's project of building a solid structure for its humanitarian works in Victoria, Tarlac. This shall be a simple two-storey building consisting of an open, multi-purpose hall on the ground floor and a provision for a small children's library on the second floor. The whole structure shall be provided with toilets, electricity and running water. It will be built on a 220 square meters of land donated by Milagros and Jun Asuncion of Ketsana Foundation.
We therefore thank Mr. and Mrs. Hansjürg and Amella Eberle of Gossau, Switzerland for their great help and wish them all the best of health in the years to come!

First Session: Children Feeding Session at Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines
with Jun Asuncion
July 29, 2015
report by jun asuncion
Last July 29, 2015, Ketsana Foundation, with Madeleine Borel as sponsor, has carried out its traditional Children Feeding Session in the town of Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines. This is just a simple event that we have been doing for several years already, an event of sharing and expressing our thankfulness for the blessings that we receive through hard work, dedication and honest intentions with regards to the goals of the foundation. Any organization, no matter how big or small, draws its existence, dignity and reputation on the sincerity, discipline and transparency of the people running behind it. For its only then that we deserve to be trusted by our donors and sponsors - and close friends.
Going with the motto of "Never give up doing something good" to the most unfortunate neighbors, Ketsana continues with its charitable actions.Giving gives fulfillment in the heart of the givers and recognition for the benefactors.A simple act of inviting poor children in the neighborhood gives them a message that they are not forgotten- and perhaps a ray of hope in their young hearts and minds.
And the children came with their mothers that quiet afternoon, but only a few of them because of school classes. Yet, we continued with our program and made them feel as special guests for the next hours while we serve them, talk and entertain them and distribute towards the end some chocolates from Switzerland.
They were happy and thankful as they left. We told them, however, that there will be a Session Two of the program before the end of of August 2015 when another Ketsana representative comes. She will be doing this on a Saturday so that more children can come.
We said goodbye to one another with a happiness and lightness in our hearts. See you again, children!
